Psychological
Therapy

Individual therapy to help you understand yourself more clearly, navigate life’s challenges, and find ways of living that work better for you.

Kristian works with adolescents and adults experiencing a range of psychological, emotional, cognitive, behavioural, and neurological difficulties. These include anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, acquired brain injury, epilepsy, functional neurological disorders, chronic pain, and long-term health conditions. For some people, therapy may include practical strategies for executive functioning difficulties, including planning, organisation, attention, and getting things done. Kristian provides evidence-based psychological therapy with a practical, collaborative, and individualised approach.

Therapy draws from a range of evidence-based frameworks, selected and adapted as appropriate for each individual. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Positive Behaviour Support, among others.

FAQs

Do I need a referral?
No. You can engage in psychological therapy without a referral, but you will need to pay the full fee. If you get a referral from your GP with an associated Mental Health Care Plan, you will be eligible to receive a rebate for 10 individual sessions. Medicare also allows for 10 sessions of group therapy, which is worth keeping in mind if you use up the 10 subsidised individual sessions. Holth psychology does not offer group therapy at this stage (but we would love to! Stay tuned).

What are your fees for therapy sessions?
A single session costs $230. Holders of a valid Mental Health Care Plan are eligible for a rebate of $100.20 for 10 individual psychological therapy sessions in a calendar year.

Do you work with neurodiverse as well as neurotypical clients?
Yes. Standard approaches to therapy do not always fit neatly with how neurodivergent individuals think, process information or experience the world. Therapy can be adapted to better match an individual’s communication style, cognitive profile and ways of understanding themselves, others and the world around them. Individuals with ASD and/or ADHD can also be more prone to executive functioning difficulties and burnout. Therapy can help make sense of these patterns and find practical ways to make everyday life work better.
